Tyrrelstown 3: 204 all out (M.Hodgson 3-55, A.Surve 4-22).
Halverstown 1: 92 all out (Z.Mohyuddin 19*).
Tyrrelstown 3 win by 112 runs
Having lost the toss, Halverstown were predictably made to bowl first on a very warm day and playing for the first time on a new look HCC Oval outfield. What a difference a close cut of the grass makes, or perhaps no cloud cover, a pink ball that loses its sheen after the first 8 overs and attacking batting. Tyrreltstown raced to 150-2 after 20 overs and a score in excess of 320+ seemed very probable with both batsman well set having each made rapid unbeaten 50s. At this level of cricket the drinks break more often than not breaks the concentration flow and so it proved in spectacular fashion. Matt swiftly removed both set batsman paving the way for the collapse to begin in earnest. Tyrellstown losing their last 8 wickets for the addition of only 30 runs. Atul once again weaving his magic to take another 4’fer, with Vishnu cleaning up the tail at the other end with some hostile, accurate deliveries.
The Halverstown response was disappointing and saw the hard work done by the bowlers end up in vain. Having slipped to 26-5, Halverstown succumbed to 92 all out with only Zia (19*) providing any sort of resistance. This was a rare off day where the batting didn’t fire with the game for the taking. Nevertheless there are positives to take away from this game, particularly with the way we regained control of the game during their innings as well as the bowling form of some of our players which is already looking on point.
