Anna Lynn Murphy received a Bachelor of Music degree from Queen’s University. As Founder and Artistic Director of Young Singers, Anna Lynn continues to proudly share her musical expertise, her love of singing and her energy. She maintains a private voice studio and enjoys working with singers of all ages. She adjudicates at music festivals and often provides clinics for school boards, churches and community choirs. Anna Lynn is Music Director at St. Dunstan of Canterbury Anglican Church.
Mark grew up in Scarborough, Ontario, where he started piano and voice lessons at the age of six. Upon graduating high school, Mark pursued a degree in Music Education from the University of Toronto majoring in Piano with a focus on Choral Conducting, completing his degree in 2009. Since then, Mark has held several conducting positions with several community choirs across the GTA. He is currently the Director of Music at St. Nicholas Birchcliff in Scarborough. Music is his first passion and he is delighted to be working with Young Singers!
Born and raised in Toronto in a musical family, Tracey graduated in 2013 from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Musical Arts, specializing in Classical Voice. She has also recently completed a two-year intensive Music Industry Arts program at Fanshawe College, London, Ontario. She is currently working towards a career path focusing in Performance and Music Production. Her proficiencies in music expand to many various musical instruments, including but not limited to the Piano (Gr. 9 RCM), Drums, and Steel Pan.
Tracey assists at her home church located in Toronto with service accompaniment, Sunday-School choir, conducting the adult choir, and playing in the resident Steel Orchestra. Apart from her sacred influences and experiences, Tracey has been singing her whole life: at home, in church, her high school’s Chamber and Jazz choir, public and private held events, and was an active member of the Bach Children’s Chorus for ten years. This year, she embraces new choral endeavours joining Toronto’s a capella ensemble, That Choir for their 12th season and was recently appointed Assistant Conductor for the Young Singers choir based in Ajax.
Chris Mackey is an educator and administrator in the Durham District School Board. She has been conducting school choirs and directing musical theatre productions for 25 years. Her choirs have won numerous awards provincially and nationally and have contributed positively to the music culture in Durham Region and beyond. Chris loves building music literacy in her students and inspiring confidence and self-expression through vocal music.
Lori LaFrance holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher and an educator for the Durham District School Board. Lori has directed a variety of choirs for over 25 years and has acted as a music/casting director for film and local musical theatre productions. She is the Music Director for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, overseeing music for children. Lori is a mother of five children who are all members/alumni of Young Singers!
As a music educator with the Durham District School Board, Nicole Savage has led choirs and bands for almost 25 years. She has also directed and produced numerous musicals for both adults and children. Although a classically trained pianist, Nicole also enjoys playing a variety of instruments, most recently becoming obsessed with the ukulele. Bringing the joy of music to all is her ultimate goal.
Cheryl McKeown holds a Law Clerk diploma from Centennial College and Bachelor of Arts Degree from York University. She has been employed with the Durham Catholic District School Board supervising students and has volunteered for many years on the Executive Advisory Committee of St. John the Evangelist Catholic School. Cheryl is a mother, member of St. John the Evangelist Parish and is a natural leader with an outgoing personality. She is happy to join the Young Singers team as the new administrator.
