Quiz and Awards Night 2019
On Thursday 24th October, we held our Annual Quiz and Awards night in O'Connells Pub in Kilcullen. We had our largest ever attendance, with 12 teams taking part in the Quiz. Stuart Conroy was Quiz Master again, and this year introduced a Sounds Round and the "Mystery Box". It was another very competitive year with only 5 points separating the top 4 teams. However, it was the Threadgold Team that took home the prize.
On the Awards front, Club President and League Team Captain - Hubert Beaumont spoke about the different contenders for the award and the excellent season that the team has had on the pitch. The award of League Team Player of the year went to Neville Case who had another fantastic season. He has now surpassed 200 wickets in league cricket, which in itself is a remarkable achievement. This season he took 25 wickets at an average of 13.64. Well done Nev !!
Skipper of the Oaks team - Des Drumm spoke about how the Oaks team have gone from strength to strength this season. New players have been added and the fixture list has been increased. This is hopefully going to continue in 2020, as there is a huge appetite for games.
The award of Oaks Team Player of the Year went to Brian McAllister who had a brilliant year. He was constantly in the wickets when he bowled along with Top Scoring against Arthurs Knights.
Just a few words on thanks before I finish. Thanks to the two skippers for the presentations and for their kind words. Thanks to Noella Beaumont for taking the photos and sending them on. Thanks to O'Connells for use of their upstairs room. They have been constant supporters of the club for the last number of years when it's come to the Quiz and Awards Night. Thanks to Barry Ashmore for looking after the Raffle. Thanks to Stuart Conroy for his work as Quiz Master or the overall organisation of the night which is a big fundraiser for the club. Finally, thanks to everyone for attending and taking part in the night. I look forward to seeing you all again in 2020, which is going to be a huge year for the club, on and off the pitch.
